Kitchens That Work for Your Lifestyle

From grabbing quick snacks to preparing family meals and hosting parties, we understand that a lot of your time at home is spent in the kitchen. It’s the place where you whip up your favorite culinary masterpieces and occasionally make a mess or two along the way. That’s why we know it’s important to have a kitchen that fits your lifestyle. This includes choices about the physical layout of your kitchen, to details in the cabinetry, and the appliances that are in it. At Brock Built, we’re focused on designing kitchens that are not only functional but also accommodate your lifestyle. Kitchen at Oakhurst in Woodstock

The Kitchen Work Triangle

The “kitchen work triangle” is a standard kitchen design model that is commonly used in home construction. The concept, developed during the 1940’s, is a general guideline connecting the three main work areas of the kitchen for cooking, cleaning, and food storage. Efficiency is the primary focus of the kitchen work triangle — keeping all of the major workstations within close proximity of the cook. Therefore, when you look at most kitchens you’ll be able to observe that the position of the sink, the oven and stovetop, and the refrigerator typically fall within a triangular-shaped layout. Designs for Every Lifestyle

As modern kitchen designs evolve, the kitchen work triangle will continue to evolve to ensure optimal functionality. For example, the oversized kitchen above from Oakhurst has double ovens with a separate range, making the work area more of a square. While the kitchen below from one of our townhomes at Westside Station maintains the triangle layout, all of the appliances are on one wall, which helps the large island countertop double as a food-prep area as well as a breakfast bar. Discover Your Next Kitchen

When we design each kitchen, we understand that the chef is not the only person we should consider. From kids working on homework at the island while Mom and dad prepare dinner to guests mingling there during birthday parties and family gatherings, we realize that today’s kitchens are used for more than just cooking.
