Live Near the Silver Comet Trail in Northwest Atlanta

Are you living near the Silver Comet Trail in Northwest Atlanta, but still haven’t taken a ride, walk or run on it? If you’re a homeowner or perhaps home shopping in one of our West Atlanta communities then you’re only a few minutes drive from where the trail begins in the Smyrna-Vinings area of NW Atlanta. This weekend may be a great time to head out with a friend or two for a nice ride, run or walk along the Comet.

What is the Silver Comet

Part of Georgia’s PATH Foundation, the Silver Comet Trail is a wide, multi-person path meant for bicycling, running, walking, and skating, which connects NW Atlanta to the Chief Ladiga Trail in Alabama. Spanning more than 61 miles, the Silver Comet Trail follows along the path of its namesake, a former streamlined passenger train, through beautiful stretches of forests, farmland, and historic communities in Georgia.

Rules, Tips, and Lovely Views

On weekends, the popular trail can be crowded, so remember to follow the rules and practice good trail etiquette: Stay to the right, yield to pedestrians and don’t block the path. Reminder: Carry water with you, as some of the fountains along the trail aren’t always in service. As one of metro Atlanta’s favorite outdoor destinations, the trail is smoothly paved and its hills are not steep. Enjoy the scenery along the way including cut rock walls, tunneled roads, and picturesque views from bridges and trestles.

Enjoy More Atlanta PATHs

The mission of the PATH Foundation is to develop a system of interlinking greenway trails through metro Atlanta for commuting and recreating. PATH has made significant progress toward building Georgia a network of trails, including Stone Mountain, Lionel Hampton, South Peachtree Creek, Westside, Arabia Mountain, Chastain Park, Whetstone Creek, South River Trails, and of course the Silver Comet.
