This project supports not only a sustainable community but also promotes economic growth, improves residential – retail options and provides for new employment opportunities.” “This project took a lot of collaboration and dedication. EDENS is grateful to everyone who helped get us to this day, Mayor Reed, Councilmember Moore, our partners and most especially this community. She has been diligently spearheading this Northwest Atlanta area development project over the past 11 years. “Everyone in the community has been the thread that made this happen. This is about you today,” she told the crowd. “This is a community Publix and the best moment for me will be having that shopping cart in my hands and going down the aisles.”

Park Bonus and Benefits

In addition to investing in the development, EDENS will donate $100,000 to fund improvements to Sara J. Gonzalez Park, located adjacent to the Moores Mill shopping center. “This groundbreaking marked a great day for the City of Atlanta,” said Mayor Reed. “Through the City’s collaboration with EDENS, Invest Atlanta, and the U.S. Congress, we are able to move forward on this important project, which will bring $95 million in investment to this corridor now, and additional investment for decades to come.” The City of Atlanta will work in partnership with EDENS to complete the Moores Mill Road extension, which will alleviate traffic issues at the intersection of Moores Mill and Bolton roads.

Local Builders Pleased

As local Atlanta home builders and community developers in West Midtown and NW Atlanta for over 15 years now, we have also patiently waited for this project to finally be approved, funded, and have a quality commercial builder attached to it. At one point early on we were even considering how we could build a similar commercial retail shopping center in the area for our homebuyers and residential owners to enjoy. This groundbreaking event was very rewarding after years of effort and cooperative involvement amongst all those involved. Along the way, we’ve consulted and worked with Herbert Ames at EDENS, City Councilwoman Felicia Moore, Invest Atlanta, and the City of Atlanta to help bring this development to market.
