Take a Summer Hike with Family & Friends!

Summer is a great time to enjoy an early morning or late afternoon hike with your family and friends. Watch out for too much activity during the peak hours of the day, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and don’t forget to wear some sunscreen. For our homeowners and residents in the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta areas, we put together a list with a few trails in and around town that you can enjoy this month or anytime!

Walk the East Palisades

The East Palisades Trail (video) is often considered one of the most scenic trails in the Metro Atlanta area and when you hike it, we think you’ll see why. The trail follows the Chattahoochee River and is frequently visited by kayakers for its class 1 and class 2 whitewater rapids but also has calm waters for you to relax and cool off in. When hiking this beautiful trail you’ll also find yourself stumbling on a small bamboo forest, old paper mill ruins and a bluff that overlooks the river with views that are sure to please.

Experience Sope Creek

Just north of Atlanta in East Cobb, you’ll find the popular Sope Creek trail, where you can explore the ruins of an old Civil War paper mill, a rocky creek, and serene pond with friendly wildlife. The trail offers hiking, running, and mountain biking making this quiet and low traffic trail perfect for those who want to get away from city life for a few hours to peacefully relax near the flowing creek.

Tour the Silver Comet

The Silver Comet Trail is rightfully named because of the trails impressive size and length. The 61.5 mile paved trail darts through Georgia as one of the most popular and maintained trails the state has to offer. You can start your trail adventure on one of the many access points it has from the Mavell Road Trailhead in Smyrna all the way to Esom Hill Trailhead in Cedartown. If you haven’t tried this one before, invite some friends and take the time to check it. Locals that live along the trail really enjoy it in the afternoons before sunset and on the weekends.

Enjoy the Atlanta BeltLine

There is nothing that embodies the spirit of Atlanta more than The BeltLine project. This expansive 22-mile loop for walking, running, biking, and skating was once a railway corridor around the core of Atlanta but was recently developed into what it is today. The BeltLine aims to give people easier and alternative means of transportation all while capturing the spirit of Atlanta through the countless art exhibits the trail has on display. The trail has multiple access points and provides convenient paths to some of Atlanta’s most well-known parks, countless trail extensions, shopping dining and more! If you’re planning on moving into a new home in Atlanta, then you’ll be excited to know that this trail can become a part of your everyday routine.
