West Highlands and Westside Provisions District

Atlanta’s industrial Westside redevelopment has introduced treasured local and global shops and dining to local Atlantans. Westside Atlanta sits to the west of Midtown, between Atlantic Station and Downtown near Georgia Tech. Its neighborhoods include West Midtown, Berkeley Park, Blandtown, and Marietta Street Artery.

The original development that started it all, Westside Provisions District, is often credited for kicking off the total renaissance this area is experiencing, bringing hundreds of new businesses, shops, dining, and entertainment to what was once a collection of abandoned buildings from the long-gone industrial era.

Westside Provisions District is a distinctive destination for sophisticated shopping and fabulous food. Its historical footprint spans more than 100 years, beginning as a meatpacking plant in the early 1910s. While the industrial buildings in the Westside district have retained their historical charm, the interiors have been refurbished into boutique shops, restaurants, bakeries, and offices with modern industrial nods.

The History of Westside Provisions Atlanta

Before Westside Provisions Atlanta was the go-to destination for shopping and dining, a portion of its property served as White Provisions Company, the first large-scale meatpacking plant in the south. White Provisions Company operated from 1910 to 1963. It sat largely unused until a collaboration involving Jamestown Properties began its renovation to transform it into the thriving destination known as White Provisions in the 2000s.

Years before White Provisions opened its doors, the neighboring development, Westside Urban Market, existed as a pioneer of the Westside Atlanta community. The development offered upscale shopping and fine dining in the late 1990s.

The two developments were combined into the partnership known in modern-day as Westside Provisions District. Today, a pedestrian bridge joins the two properties over a still-functioning railroad. Jamestown and Clarion Partners jointly acquired Westside Provisions Atlanta in 2016.
